Diners frequently note the generous portions and reasonable prices, making each meal not just tasty but also a delightful value.
While some reviews mention minor disappointments—like a carbonara with texture issues—the overwhelming sentiment is one of satisfaction and nostalgia for the rich flavors presented. For anyone venturing to Rome, a meal at Hostaria Dino e Tony promises not just a delicious dining experience, but also a slice of local culture and charm that leaves a lasting impression.

I wasn't initially planning on writing a review, but the fact that I'm still daydreaming about the Amatriciana pasta I had at Hostaria Dino e Tony well over a month ago speaks volumes! This place is truly special. We stumbled upon it because our guesthouse in Prati was literally a minute's walk away. Fresh off the plane, we dropped our bags and headed straight there for lunch, and what a fantastic decision it was! The food was absolutely delicious. Hostaria Dino e Tony has that quintessential typical Roman setting that makes you feel like you've stumbled upon a truly local, hidden gem. The atmosphere is wonderfully unpretentious. The owner seems like quite the funny character, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, quick to offer excellent suggestions. I even recommended it to a friend who traveled to Rome two weeks after my trip, and we both wholeheartedly agreed: it was by far the best meal we had in Rome during our week-long stays! You absolutely have to experience it for yourself.
Dino & Tony's is a real gem! Authentic food. Great atmosphere. Our group of 6 ladies loved every second of it. The staff were excellent. Food was abundant and delicious. Reasonably priced. And Tony and Dino were wonderful! Definitely would highly recommend a visit to this restaurant!
During our trip to Rome, my son and I stumbled upon this gem. It was a delightful surprise! The pasta was exquisite, and the atmosphere felt like stepping into an Italian movie. The chef, Toni, and the waiter, Dino, are brothers, which added a charming, familial touch. If you’re planning a visit to Rome, don’t hesitate to stop by. It’s a wonderful experience with excellent food and service
Visited in June 2011, July 2014, April 2022 - a short walk from Ottaviano Metro, this has become my unrivalled favourite in Rome. I sat just inside rather than outside under the awning - green check cloths, calm room, portraits on the walls. Antipasti first: salumi with supplì and a mini egg calzone, simple and spot on (10/10); and the pizza - bitter greens, gorgonzola and marinara on a soft-yet-crisp, charred base. Perfect (10/10). Pasta followed on both visits: rigatoni alla gricia with caramelised guanciale, black pepper and pecorino is a blessing from Toni every time (10/10). Then its tomato sibling all’amatriciana (9.5/10). Desserts round it off in the same generous spirit - a sweet, rustic finish, often with complimentary treats and digestifs from Dino himself. Honest, consistent cooking, and warmth of a huge heart. This is Rome as it should taste.
Family-owned business, nice home-like atmosphere. The antipasti were good, the pasta amatriciana was good but the pasta carbonara sadly was a bit disappointing. The sauce had chunks of egg in it which should not happen. The atmosphere in the restaurant can get a little loud and the owner is a little „rough“, which is normal for italians but can easily be too much for tourists. We for example liked it.
Family owned and operated. The most beautiful family ! Want to thank Dino and Tony for the most fabulous food. Seemed like food and drinks kept coming out in abundance. Authentic Italian food. The place was packed. Our friends we are traveling with came 12 years ago and raved about it back then. From Bradenton Florida
I bumped into this place while walking over the Prati area close to the Vatican. Due to Labor Day, it was packed, but 90% locals, so it immediately had my attention. This is not a place if you are in a hurry or want perfect service. It is not about that, they are not worried about providing a good service at all. You should understand this is their concept because you are mostly going to be served by one of the owners, and they have plenty of tables. So if you are up to deal with slow service, mistakes in comandas, waiters forgetting you are there. Then stay because the food is worth it. I had the fried artichoke and the fettuccine with mushrooms. Both were delicious, and for dessert the Panacota, OMG I could eat a big bowl of that. Prices are good. So, in my opinion.. give it a try. Just be patient.
